After much thought we have decided to open just one of our two rooms from July 15th 2020. This will be kept under review as the Covid 19 situation develops. I know many people are desperate for a holiday and many of your love to bring your dogs along too! I am currently updating the website with details of changes to our booking process to ensure your stay is as safe as can be for everyone. Please check back again for further information over the next couple of weeks.
The ground floor room is a large airy room with twin beds, flat screen TV and an easy chair. The ensuite has had the benefit of a lovely new shower during lockdown (pics to follow). In addition there is now a table and chairs in the room as breakfast will be served in your room. During lockdown I have been perfecting my bread making, so home-made sourdough bread will be on the menu (pictured)! The normal menu of cooked and continental breakfast options is available but you will be asked to select your choices in advance as we are not able to offer a buffet at the moment. Of course if we have a return to the gorgeous weather we had in spring, then our new patio in the garden is available for guests to use for breakfast or any other time.
Please note, I have introduced a minimum 2 nights stay for the rest of 2020. This is necessary to allow for additional cleaning and disinfecting between guests and the recommendation to have a gap of 72 hrs between guests. There is also a new option of a Room-Only booking, which does not include breakfast. I hope this will encourage people to spend a little more time in this beautiful part of Scotland, even if you are only passing through!
Autumn is here and the shorter days are with us. However there are still days when the sun shines and the light is fantastic. Our sunroom is cosy and warm so you can enjoy the views over your breakfast whatever the weather outside! The wildlife is still here and if you’re lucky you may see roe deer or even a hen harrier! Winter deals now available for direct bookings. Please contact us for details.
Beat the winter blues with a pre-Christmas short break in the beautiful Rhins of Galloway! Stay in our peaceful, cosy B&B and explore the gorgeous coastlines, pretty villages and historic sites of this corner of south west Scotland. Autumn is a great time of year to visit the nearby Galloway Forest, with lots of opportunities for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting! We are pet-friendly so why not bring your dog along too – accommodation free of charge!
Nearby Killantringan Bay is just one of the fabulous local beaches a short drive away, or you can walk there along the Southern Upland Way which runs past the house!
Book direct with us and enjoy a 3 night break from just £35 per person per night including breakfast.
Enjoy a hearty full Scottish breakfast to set you up for the day, or a lighter selection of cereals, fruit or yogurts in our beautiful sunroom, with stunning views of the countryside and Loch Ryan. Relax over a leisurely croissant and coffee, watching the birds in the garden, before venturing out for the day – guaranteed to relieve any winter stresses!
At the end of day, sample the delights of one of the numerous excellent pubs and restaurants in Stranraer and Portpatrick, just a short drive or taxi-ride away.
We have pleasure in announcing that we are now able to offer guests free fishing on Knockquhassen Reservoir which is a few minutes walk from the house. The reservoir offers a peaceful location with a remote feel, where you can fly fish for brown or rainbow trout. We can also supply day tickets for guests to fish at any of the other 4 local waters managed by Stranraer & District Angling Association. Day tickets cost £18 per person per day.
We’ve listened to your feedback and have now installed a flat screen TV in our upstairs double room. This compliments the downstairs twin room which already has its own TV. Free Wi-Fi is also available so you can keep up to date with what’s going on or relax and switch off, whatever takes your fancy!
All for the same great price of £75 per room (2 sharing) inclusive of a delicious breakfast! Discounts available for single occupancy, longer stays and winter breaks!
Why choose Knockquhassen Farm B&B for your short break or overnight stay this year?
Spectacular scenery – the views from the house and garden are stunning at any time of year, but even more so right now, with the beautiful sunny weather we’ve been having.
Great location as a base for exploring the area – spring has well and truly sprung, bluebells are everywhere. Why not visit one of the many gardens nearby, take a walk by the sea on a rugged coast path or wide empty beach or visit the picturesque harbour at Portpatrick?
Lots to see and do – whatever your thing, there is sure to be something for you in Wigtownshire from walking to arts to oysters. See our What to See & Do near Stranraer page for details of forthcoming local events.
Summer is here and with the lovely long days our little flock of hens are spending more and more of their day outdoors, ranging freely round our large garden and adjacent fields. They love to help with any gardening or digging that is going on as well as helping with cleaning out the horse barn! They are a productive little bunch, producing an egg each most days, so plenty to offer guests for breakfast and some to take home if you want!
…and another new supplier
We have also started using a great new supplier for our breakfast coffee. Ovenbird Coffee Roasters are based in Glasgow and offer top quality speciality coffee, sourced direct from farmers and growers in Africa and South America. We think it’s excellent stuff and it’s a great way to start the day, with a carafe of coffee to accompany your breakfast in our lovely sunroom.
